Under The Hood: Serving

What if serving others was never meant to feel like an obligation? This message flips the script on how we typically think about ministry and volunteerism. Rather than beginning with a list of needs to fill, we are invited to begin with Jesus himself, specifically with what he saw when he looked out at the crowds around him. In Matthew 9, we discover that Jesus did not see problems to manage or statistics to track. He saw people who were harassed and helpless, and he was moved with a deep, gut-level compassion that drove him toward them rather than away. That same compassion is meant to shape how we see the world around us. When his grace genuinely takes root in us, we begin noticing people we might have once walked right past. The harvest, as Jesus describes it, is not hopeless. It is plentiful. The shortage is not opportunity but workers who are willing to pray, look up, and say, Lord, start with me.
