Think About Thinking
This powerful message challenges us to recognize a fundamental truth: our thoughts control our lives, but we have the authority to control our thoughts. Drawing from Proverbs 23:7 and Romans 12:2, we discover that transformation doesn't happen from the outside in, but from the inside out. The battle we face isn't primarily behavioral but mental. We're reminded that we're not on a cruise ship in our Christian walk, we're on a battleship. The enemy wages a propaganda war against our minds, sizing us up for destruction through lies and deception. Yet we're equipped with divine weapons: the Holy Spirit and God's Word. The concept of taking thoughts captive, from 2 Corinthians 10:5, isn't about resisting what we don't want, because whatever we resist persists. Instead, it's about replacing lies with truth, holding our thoughts until they become obedient to Christ. When worry, fear, or depression knock on the door of our minds, we have the power to ask: do I really want to think about this now? We can change the channel. The goal isn't just positive thinking, it's Christ-like thinking, which leads us to the true meaning of repentance: changing our minds to align with God's truth, bringing refreshing and recovery from His presence.
