Think Like Jesus
This message challenges us to examine the very foundation of our spiritual lives: our thought patterns. Drawing from 1 Corinthians 2:16, we're reminded that as believers, we actually have access to the mind of Christ—not in an infallible way, but in a transformative way that shapes our values, desires, and daily decisions. The sermon walks us through six powerful characteristics of Christ's thinking that we're called to adopt. First, Jesus knew exactly who He was, demonstrated through His 'I Am' statements throughout the Gospels. This clarity of identity protected Him from the pressures of conformity that we face daily. Second, He understood His purpose with crystal clarity—to proclaim the good news and give life in all its fullness. Third, He practiced the presence of God, often slipping away to pray and maintain that vital connection with the Father. Fourth, He didn't try to please everyone, focusing instead on pleasing the One who sent Him. Fifth, He willingly sacrificed for others, laying down His life for the sheep. And finally, He committed to doing God's will rather than His own, even when it led to the cross. The practical application is profound: we study Christ's life in Scripture and ask the Holy Spirit for illumination to apply these truths to our daily circumstances. The warning is clear—it's worse to hear from God and do nothing than to never hear at all. We're called not just to be inspired by these truths, but to be transformed by them, allowing our thoughts to be renewed so that our entire lives reflect the mind of Christ.
