Questions for Week One of Romans 8
1. Question: Share a time when you felt condemnation. What were the results of that feeling physically, emotionally, and spiritually? _________________________________________________________

2. Read over: "Truths to let into your heart"
Romans 8:1 - Therefore, there is now no condemnation....
A. The reality of freedom: no condemnation
B. The reason for freedom: justification.
Romans 8:1b - for those who are in Christ Jesus, 2 because through Christ Jesus the law
of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death.
C. The route to freedom: substitution.
Romans 8:3 - For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the sinful nature, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in sinful man...
D. The result of freedom - sanctification.
Romans 8:4 - ... in order that the righteous requirements of the law might be fully met in
us, who do not live according to the sinful nature but according to the Spirit.
Question: Spend a few minutes discussing each of the four subpoints. Which of these are most powerful and meaningful to you, and why? ____________________________________________

3. Pastor Dan mentioned in the message that when believers sin, God does not reject them, God loves them unconditionally, and His acceptance is not based on their performance.
John 6:37 - All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never
drive away.
Romans 9:15 - For he says to Moses, "I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have
compassion on whom I have compassion."
Romans 9:16 - It does not, therefore, depend on man's desire or effort, but on God's mercy.
Romans 8:1 - Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
