What Are You Thinking, Pt 4

Think About Managing Your Mind, Pt 1

If you would like to extend this over a week, you can easily do one of the points each day of your devotion.  Here is a printable version.
  • Your thought life is like a pathway and your life moves in the direction of your strongest thoughts.

1.  How well do you think you manage your thought life? ________________________________________

2 Corinthians 11:1-4 - I hope you will put up with a little of my foolishness; but you are already doing that. 2 I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy. I promised you to one husband, to Christ, so that I might present you as a pure virgin to him. 3 But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent's cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ. 4 For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it easily enough.

2.  Why do you think Paul was jealous for the church he started?  ________________________________

  • You must understand your thoughts shape your feelings and actions, and therefore your life.

Proverbs 23:7 - For as he thinks within himself, so he is.   NASU

What goes into your mind comes out in your life.

3.  Would you be willing to share a time when you had your thought life in a bad place and it caused you to react or respond in a negative way? _____________________________________________

Satan is going to deceive you the same way that he deceived Eve.

  • Doubt.

Genesis 3:1 - … Did God really say…

  • Denial.

Genesis 3:4 - You will not surely die

  • Deception.

Genesis 3:5 - For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.

4.  Will you share a time when the enemy used one of the three ways of deceiving Eve in your life?  ______________________________________________________________________________________________

  • Your life is always moving in the direction of your strongest thoughts.

Psalm 119:15-16 - I meditate on your precepts and consider your ways. 16 I delight in your decrees; I will not neglect your word.

5.  What is your definition of meditation?  ________________________________________________________

2 Corinthians 11:4 - For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it easily enough.

Two questions:

  • Identify the number one lie (stronghold) that is holding you back.

7.  Would you be willing to share what stronghold is holding you back?  ________________________

__________________________________________________________________________________________________

  • Name the truth that demolishes that stronghold.

8.  Have you found a truth in the Scripture that will demolish that stronghold? If so, what is it?
